What are the stages of getting over a break up, and how long does it last?
The relationship was with a girl for nearly 5 years and she left me for another guy.
Usually you go through the same stages as if someone died. Anger, sadness, rejection, loss, exceptance. I have heard that it takes half as long as the relationship to be ready to date again. That would mean that you should wait 2.5 years before dating seriously again. I do think that is a bit long but I don’t think you should start dating until you realize that you are a good person and that there is someone out there that will love you for who you are.
